Deutsche Bank Ladies Swiss Open 2012: Rookie Anaïs Maggetti happy to be at home course
Swiss rookie Anaïs Maggetti is confident that she can give a tough time to battle-hardened rivals at the Deutsche Bank Ladies Swiss Open 2012, set to be staged from June 14-17, at Golf Gerre Losone, Switzerland.
Maggetti may not be as tough a contender as Diana Luna, who will defend her title at the prestigious tournament, but she has what it takes to beat big LET (Ladies European Tour) stars.
Tournament officials said that the field of this year’s Deutsche Bank Ladies Swiss Open is pretty strong, as it is featuring titans like Helen Alfredsson, Laura Davies of England, Trish Johnson, Lee-Anne Pace, Gwladys Nocera, Carlota Ciganda from Spain,
Scottish Carly Booth, who won the Aberdeen Asset Management Ladies Scottish Open a few weeks ago, and Aussie Karen Lunn.
Analysts said that the Swiss rookie is eager to start her pro career in an amazing style, as she has been a strong contender in amateur golf.
In order to give a hard time to rivals, Maggetti trained hard on the practice range, working on her putting and swing skills. According to the details, the star golfer took a week off to practice for the tournament.
The rising star is expected to capitalise on the home crow, as she has played on the course before. More importantly, the local crowd will be ready to give her the much-needed support on the course.
Speaking to the media about how she is going to fare against strong contenders this week, Maggetti said that she is aware of the pressure she may face while playing against players known for their skills.
However, the young prodigy pointed out that she will be in a better position due to the crowd’s support. The Swiss golfer said that her fans expect her to steal the show, which is a big responsibility.
“It’s always nice to play at home because all the people that play in my club will come to watch and support me. I can sleep at home, that’s nice. I’m happy to be here and playing at my home golf course,” said Maggetti.
“Maybe I will have a little bit more pressure because all the people expect me to do well because it’s my course and I did well the past year, but it’s not like bad pressure, it’s a good one”.
