Deutsche Bank Ladies Swiss Open 2012: Stacy Lee Bregman and Malene Jorgensen tie for 5th in second round
South African Stacy Lee Bregman and Malene Jorgensen of Denmark fired a 67 each in the second round of the Deutsche Bank Ladies Swiss Open 2012, to share the fifth spot on the leaderboard.
Both players amazed the spectators in the second round of the prestigious tournament, being played at Golf Gerre Losone, Switzerland.
Other contenders, who performed well, were the defending champion Diana Luna and Aussie Rebecca Artis, who is standing at the top spot on the leaderboard.
Despite a fearsome field, Bregman kicked off the tournament in an impressive style and played perfect shots. She fired a birdie on the difficult par-3 2nd hole.
The South African star stunned the spectators once again when she made two consecutive birdies on the 5th and 6th hole.
Analysts said that the young star has proved her worth by gaining a significant increase in her position after just one round. They said that the next rounds will be harder, but she is capable of handling a tough situation.
Speaking to the media about her solid performance, the South African prodigy said that she did not think that she would be able to edge past big names.
The field is pretty tough, and the two previous champs, Florentyna Parker and Diana Luna are standing tied for the second spot.
“I played very solid today. The course is really score-able and all that. I only missed two greens today so I mean if you get the putter going you can really go low on this course,” Bregman said.
On the other hand, Jorgensen also started her round with confidence. She made a birdie-putt on the very first hole.  The Dane cheered her fans once again when she drained two straight birdies on the 3rd and 4th hole.
Jorgensen, while speaking to the media, said that she was happy to find herself in a better position. She went on to say that her strokes were perfect throughout the day, which really helped her score well.
“I played really good today and had a very good putter, so I’m very happy right now. I have my mental coach (Martin Langagergaard) with me this week and he helped me a lot so I’ll try to keep up the work,” Jorgensen said.
