Developer praises Call of Duty fans, Black Ops to get a Limited Edition box
There seems to be plenty of activity on the Call of Duty side of things as Chacko Sonny, from Beachhead Studios, heaped praise on the online Call of Duty community.
Declaring Call of Duty fans as the ‘best in the world,’ Sonny claimed that the launch of Call of Duty: Elite, the official online social networking site for the franchise, would help strengthen and unite the community even more.
Explaining how the Call of Duty franchise grew from humble beginnings into one of the most played and commercially successful games to date, Sonny explained that CoD: Elite would continue to evolve with each new iteration.
He stated, "We want our players to create a single profile and build a relationship with Elite that can continue to evolve with every CoD game."
Player empowerment has become something the top game developers and publishers are looking to push, with the Little Big Planet franchise the best example with their ‘Play, Create, Share’ ethos. While Elite may just be focusing on the ‘Share’ aspect, it ought
to be enough for the most played online shooter in the world.
Speaking on how the Elite service was ‘owed’ to fans, Sonny commented, "We have the best online community in the world and we owe it to them to offer an experience that will not only anticipate their needs but will keep getting better and better every single
day.”
There has been no official comment on the price points of the premium content on offer in CoD: Elite, yet confirmation is expected in the near future as the service is set to launch with the release of the eagerly anticipated, Modern Warfare 3.
It seems that in an effort to get the last few copies of Call of Duty: Black Ops off the shelves, to make way for the new title, Activision revealed a Limited Edition box for the game.
Available on both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, the box is priced at $59.99 and comes with a redeem code for the first Downloadable Content Pack, First Strike, along with the standard game.
Confirmed for a 28th June release in the United States, there has been no official word as to whether or not Europe will receive anything of the like. The Limited Edition box, complete with box art and cover, were listed on the website of the
US retail giant, Best Buy.
Yet, one can only get the feeling that the days of Black Ops are nearing its end as the gaming world looks ahead in eager anticipation of Modern Warfare 3 and the simultaneous launch of CoD: Elite.
