Devendra Bishoo delighted with promising debut against Pakistan
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Young-c98322 West Indian leg-spinner, Devendra Bishoo, was delighted with his performance in his Test match debut against Pakistan.
He finished with figures of four for 68, guiding his team to a very good position on the second day of play, at Providence Stadium, Guyana in West Indies.
Bishoo stated, “It was nice performing in Guyana, my home. My only disappointment was that neither my father (deceased) nor my mother (absent) was present to see me mix control and variation to telling effect on a track that helped me.”
West Indies were bowled out for 226 in their first innings after their captain, Darren Sammy, elected to bat first. The team continued its struggle against the Pakistan spinners like they did in the five-match One Day International (ODI) series.
None of the batsmen were able to take their score past 50 and the top scorer in the innings was opening batsman, Lendl Simmons. He played brilliantly on a difficult pitch, scoring 49 runs for his team.
Bishoo also did a decent job with the bat, as he scored an unbeaten 15 runs, which guided the team’s total above 200.
The 25-year-old then came out to show his wizardry in the field. His excellent figures restricted http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 to 160, giving a healthy first innings lead of 66 runs to the home team.
The Caribbean Kings will be looking to win the Test series against the Men in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750, who will tour West Indies in June for a complete series.
The team will also hope to see the likes of Chris Gayle and Jerome http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Taylor-c92915 return for the tough series against the World Champions.
Both senior players are playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) ahead of national duty. They have a dispute with the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 Cricket Board (WICB), which has kept them out of action.
According to star Indian batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rahul-c83321 Dravid, “It is hard to comment on something that you are not a part of. I don't know the internal politics of the players and WICB. From the WI fans' point of view, they would obviously love to see their top players
playing.”
However, the veteran player expects a tough series against the Caribbean Kings, as they have a very good record playing at home.
