Devendra Bishoo hopes to make mother proud in Guyana
The latest international bowling sensation to make an impact on the international scene, Devendra Bishoo, has his eyes set on his first ever match at his home ground in Guyana.
The leg-spinner would take the field for the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 in the fifth and final One Day International (ODI) of the series later today. The right-armer has been in sterling form with the ball and is the leading wicket taker in the series,
he was pivotal in triggering a http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 collapse in the fourth match at Kensington Oval in Barbados that led to the sole win for the hosts.
Bishoo has already scalped 14 wickets at a miserly average of less than 20 runs per wicket. He has caused all sorts of problems to the Pakistani batting line-up with his sharply spinning deliveries that skid off a length at times besides
fizzing off the wicket.
Bishoo stated that he was looking forward to his maiden international appearance on his home ground and that representing the region was a huge bonus for him.
“I am really excited about playing for West Indies in my own country for the first time", Bishoo said. "For me personally, it will be a good way to end the ODI series. There's no place like home, and my mother will be there. This will be
her first time seeing me play for West Indies”.
The talented leg spinner has had a tough life. He lost his father at an early age and was brought up by his mother. The amiable youngster does not have any siblings and owes his success to his mother, who would be watching him play in the
West Indian colours, for the first time from the stands.
"I don't have any brothers or sisters, and my dad passed away when I was only eight years old so it is just me and her. I know she is so proud of me and it will be really special for her to see me play at home".
Bishoo has been praised by cricketing pundits from the region besides commentators, who are part of the broadcast team for the series. He himself stated that he heard that the commentators are saying that he has no fear and plays his game
with a positive mindset.
Bishoo acknowledged their stance. He added that he has belief in his ability and generally wants to stick to the basics, and give his best in any situation against any team.
The vastly improving bowler added that he had love and passion for the game early on and was only 11 when he started playing. For him the secret for success is simple: never stop training.
He added that he practices with passion every day of the week, as for him there are no holidays in his profession. The West Indies team management and coach would be hoping that he continues to bamboozle the Pakistani batsmen in the last
match of the ODI series as well as the two matches Test series where he is likely to make his debut.
The first Test match is set to be played in his hometown Guyana where the wickets spin and are have low bounce. It remains to be seen if he can make the same sort of impact in the longer format of the game and if he does, he is set to bring
smiles on the faces of cricket fans in the region especially his mother.
