Question:

Device manager entry?

There is an entry in the Device Manager under "other devices" for " Video Controller (VGA compatable)" which has a yellow exclamation mark against it.

.

Can you tell me what this device is supposed to do. Using my laptop when I scroll a page up & down using firefox the page does shake a bit, but that seems to be the only fault.

.

It says it doesn't have any drivers, and a search can't find any.Do I need these?

  1. Would need a lot more info to tell you what it is but try this. Go to the entry in device manage and right click and select uninstall and yes if it asks if you are sure. Reboot the computer and when it restarts it should sort itself out. If it doesn't and it gives you an error message then you have somehow deleted/damaged a graphics driver. Visit your computer manufacturer's web site and download the graphics drivers for your model and install them

  2. This is your video card.  The yellow exclamation indicates that the software driver for this device is not installed.  You need to identify the Video card in your laptop and then find the correct driver.  Install it to correct the video shaking.

  3. you need to go online to the laptop makers site and download the correct vga driver for your graphics card...thats why the yellow mark is there...windows has installed a basic driver thats why the page shuffles instead of moving smooth....
