The studios of two of gaming’s most iconic franchises Capcom (Devil May Cry) and Namco Bandai (Tekken) have confirmed the dates when respective titles will hit shelves.
Starting things off with one of the most iconic arcade fighting games in history and Namco Bandai have confirmed that gamers who own Nintendo’s portable gaming console, the 3DS, will be getting their hands on a Tekken game very soon.
The publisher have announced that their first Tekken foray into the 3DS will be titled Tekken 3D Prime Edition and will be hitting shelves in Europe on the 17th of February.
The 3DS got off to a very slow start in terms of sales as gamers complained of a lack of content among other issues, which in turn led to a Nintendo have to re-evaluate its sales target and slash prices drastically. Since then the console’s sales have improved,
as it managed to hold on to the top spot in the weekly hardware sales charts in Japan following the release of Sony’s PlayStation Vita.
However, the consumer entertainment electronics giant seems to want to take control more control over marketing their games as Nintendo will be handling the sales, marketing and distribution responsibilities of the game in two regions; namely Europe and
Australia.
As for the game itself, well from the details shared so far Tekken 3D Prime will come with a roster of more than 40 characters; with a number of old favourites making the list such as Armour King. Also a few of the stages have been redesigned to take advantage
of the features of the 3DS and the developers are looking to deliver what they call, “fast-paced dynamic battles with impressive graphics running at a high frame rate.”
As an added bonus the game will come with a sweet and rather enticing bonus. Tekken Blood Vengeance will also be included with the game itself. The animated film links the events that took place between Tekken 6 and its predecessor, Tekken 5.
In other news, Dante will be making a remade comeback on the current generation of consoles, as the Devil May Cry HD Collection has been given a release date. The collection will be available on both the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 as early as April.
In fact, the official release date has been pegged on the 3rd of April and will included Devil May Cry, Devil May Cry 2 and Devil May Cry 3: Dante’s Awakening.
Along with the three games of yesteryear the collection will also come with “a wealth of content for fans and newcomers alike.”
The HD remake of the first three games of the series are sure to get a few nostalgic sales as well as expose the game to a whole new generation.
