Question:

Devils fans...?

How do you feel about Holik coming back? I remember after he left, he basically became the devil in the eyes of my NJD-fans friends. I know playing wise he'll be a good asset to the team, but how are the fans reacting to his return?

  1. At the time, I was pissed off that he left the Devils for like...$9mil with the Rangers.  But if you think about it - $9mil at the time was HUGE money.  I think you'd leave a team for that kind of salary.  Of course he was horrible on the Rangers which was great.  But he played well with the Devils, so I guess I'm gonna welcome him back.  Plus the Devils got him cheap - only $2.5mil!  So that's a plus!

Of course Scott Gomez left for the money, and because he wanted to be a superstar.  In the Devils system nobody shines.  It's a team effort.  He wanted to go to a bigger stage and get all the glory.  Scott Gomez is NEVER welcome back to the Devils, but I'll give Holik a chance.  If he plays well, he's welcome in New Jersey.

  2. that was like 6 years ago and im ok with it

he didnt win at all or help them so who cares, its not like he won the cup with them and decided to come back

he only played 4 games in the playoffs in 5 years, come back

  3. Well, I have a bunch of friends that are devils fans, and they do not seem to have much anger towards holik.  yeah, he crossed the hudson for more money, but that was several years ago, the rangers did not use him right, and he tanked there.  and he was ineffective in atlanta, too.

Personally, I think it was a bad move by Lou to bring him back.  Maybe he's nostalgic for 1997 (holik AND rolston??), but I think time has shown that Holik was a product of the old NHL.  He is too slow to be effective in league nowadays.  I don't really know what Lou was trying to achieve by signing him... and I know 1 year, 2.5 mil isn't bad... but I think he will wind up regretting the decision.

Plus, didn't he have a problem with talking to the media?  He always seemed to call people out, which seemed to cause a rift amongst the players.  Though I haven't heard about that in the past few years... but then again, the atlanta media wouldn't touch the thrashers.
