Devin Setoguchi shines at the right time and shows importance to team – NHL News
Devin Setoguchi of the San Jose Sharks has recently caught up pace and is bagging superb performances on a regular basis as he came up with another gem of an individual effort in Game 3 against the Detroit Red Wings on May 4.
Devin not only put the Sharks in a comfortable position in the series lead but was also able to outperform all the other players in the post-season. He became the first player during the current National Hockey League play-off season to score an amazing
hat-trick. Without a doubt, his hat-trick is going to be the sweetest of them all as he scored the winning goal of the game for his team in over-time.
What is most astonishing about Setoguchi is the fact that he had already decided and called that he was going to score the winning goal of the game ahead of the star player, Logan Couture.
"I looked over at Logan Couture and said, 'You better get it before I do because I already have my celebration ready to go,'" Setoguchi said after the game showing his intention and determination to get the winning goal and complete his hat-trick.
Though scoring a hat-trick may not be a big deal for many but this is definitely a feat that many dream of. What is really amazing is the fact that he was able to call his shot and scored the goal.
Joe Thornton passed the puck to Setoguchi as he was on top of the circle and with just over 10 minutes of time left in over-time, he struck the shot. The shot went past the right pad of Red Wings’ goal-keeper Jimmy Howard and won the game for the Sharks.
After the goal was scored, the celebration was also unique as Setoguchi copied Cristiano Ronaldo, a famous Portuguese soccer player to show that he had the same skill and was brilliant like him if not better.
"I said, 'I'm going to pull a Ronaldo and go down to my knees,'" Setoguchi said. "He said, 'That was mine.' I said, 'I'll beat you to it.' It was kind of weird that it happened that way."
Some might say that he was lucky while the others would say that he was brilliant during the game. Either way he was able to outperform his team-mate Logan Couture as he scored the winning goal of the game.
With the Wings one win away from the Conference Finals, Couture might wait and play the key role in the important part for the team and respond Lionel Messi style who is Cristiano Ronaldo’s arch rival.
