Devon Alexander and Timothy Bradley want Manny Pacquiao
Forget Amir Khan.
Both Devon Alexander and Timothy Bradley want Manny Pacquiao after their respective 29 January junior welterweight title fight.
“Alexander the Great,” the WBC junior welterweight titlist, will trade shots with WBO king Timothy Bradley in a bout that will establish a unified champion and an indisputable top junior welterweight.
Earlier this week Top Rank CEO Bob Arum, who promotes Manny Pacquiao, said that the winner of Alexander-Bradley would stand good odds to fight Pacquiao in May of next year.  A bout with Pacquiao would
mean career high paydays for either Alexander or Bradley as well as a chance to make boxing history.
“Pacman” has been busy training in Baguio City, Philippines, for his upcoming November 13 battle with Antonio Margarito.  After early reports and statements by trainer Freddie Roach found Manny wanting,
new developments suggest the Philippine superstar is on track and ready to earn his eighth division championship.
When contacted about a potential Pacquiao fight, Alexander said: “You know I don't look ahead. I take it one fight at a time.  Kevin (Cunningham) and I are focused on beating Tim Bradley […] I am very
confident that I will beat Bradley. After I am done with him it would be an honor to step in the ring with Pacquiao."
In a similar tone, Bradley, contacted by boxingscene.com, said: “Bring it on! [A Pacquiao fight]  In all seriousness I don't look ahead.  Once I take care of Devon then we can talk about Pacquiao.”
While Bradley confirmed he would be willing to step into the ring with “Pacman,” he likewise expressed skepticism about the possibility turning into a reality.  “Of course I want the fight but you have
to be realistic. We talked about fighting Pacquiao before and it didn't happen. All Arum has to do is make a phone call to make the fight happen."
Indeed Arum has been accused of late of placing Pacquiao against fighters he knows will offer the congressman no serious challenge.  He also shows a  partiality in pitting Pacquiao against other Top Rank
fighters, such as Miguel Cotto, Joshua Clottey, or Antonio Margarito.
