Devon Myles Brown wins Men’s 1500m freestyle gold: Day eight– British Gas Swimming Championships
Devon Myles Brown of South Africa won gold medal of the Men’s Guest 1500m freestyle on final day of the 2012 British Gas Swimming Championships at the London Aquatics Centre on Saturday, March 10.
Myles Brown demonstrated his noteworthy efforts in the distant freestyle race and smothered his challengers by snaring gold medal of the discipline.
The South African swimmer showed no mercy to his opponents and proved his eligibility for gold medal by posting a time of 15 minutes and 17.66 seconds. The champion remained 20.22 seconds ahead of China’s Mingjian Zheng, who occupied second best spot of
the event by clocking an effort of 15 minutes and 37.88 seconds.
The second position holder remained hardly one second ahead of his teammate, Haobo Wei, who suffered a loss of 0.84 seconds and transpired on the finishing end for bronze medal by clocking 15 minutes and 38.72 seconds.
The fourth spot of the event was claimed by Seokhyun Park of Korea, who was almost five seconds slower from his former finisher and surfaced on the finishing wall with the timing of 15 minutes and 43.85 seconds.
Park was followed by his teammate, Jeongsoo Jeong, who stayed just 0.06 seconds behind him on the finishing blockade and captured fifth position of the event with the timing of 15 minutes and 43.91 seconds.
Subsequently, Korea’s Sangjin Jang emerged on the finishing wall as sixth position holder of the event. Jang remained almost nine seconds behind his preceding finisher and concluded his race with the timing of 15 minutes and 52.84 seconds.
He stayed nearly one second ahead of Fernando Ponte of Brazil, who hit the finishing wall with the timing of 15 minutes and 53.68 seconds for seventh position. The last spot of the event was claimed by Stefan Sorak of Serbia, who submitted a time of 16 minutes
and 10.61 seconds for eighth position.
In addition, the championship ended after the completion of all listed events in Men and Women’s category while the winners were awarded medal and accolades for their invincible struggles in the 1500m discipline at medal ceremony of the championship.
