Dewi Claire Schreefel shoots 66 in second round at Kingsmill Championship
Dutch Dewi Claire Schreefel, who got off to a flying start at the Kingsmill Championship after posting a 66 in the first round, managed to maintain her performance on the second day as well.
She carded a 66 to tie for the third position along with  Paula Creamer of the United States.
Schreefel looked quite confident when she kicked off her first round, as she was determined to keep the pressure high on rivals right from the start of the tournament.
The battle at Williamsburg became intensified when South Korean Jiyai Shin made it hard for other contenders to keep their momentum going in the first rounds. Shin shot an overall score of 130 in the two rounds, grabbing the lead.
The Dutch star started her second round in style as she drained a birdie on the very first hole. She then parred five holes in a row and sent the crowd cheering after she sank an eagle on the seventh hole.
On the back nine, Schreefel kept her momentum going as she posted two birdies.
Commentators said that the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) star has managed to solidify her position on the leaderboard, but it remains to be seen how she copes the pressure in the next rounds.
Speaking to the media at the end of the round, the Dutch golfer said she is pretty excited after grabbing the third position in the first two rounds.
She said that she did feel some pressure at the start, but she did not let her nerves shake her.
“For the last two days everything has been going pretty good.  Hitting a lot of fairways so I got the opportunity to shoot at the pins with the soft conditions, hitting the irons good and rolling the putts well.  I'm not even making all the chances that I have, but that's how it goes.  Rolling it well, so looking forward to the weekend,” Schreefel said.
She admitted that she made a couple of mistakes on some holes, but overall, her performance was fine.
“I mean, I just played it well.  I'm hitting it up on the right side of the fairway and then letting my 3‑wood get to about 25 yards of the green, and then pitching is my strong point,” Schreefel said.
