Dewpoint question!?

Ok so say the air temperature was 35C, and the dew point was -7C.

I dont understand how the dew point can be so low, can somebody explain to me?

  1. This is the case with arid environments. The presence of dry air keeps it dry all of the time unless there is heavy precipitation. This happens either because an area is in a rain shadow or it is located within the dominance of the subtropical high. The amount of moisture is so low that the dew point is six feet under with it.
