Question:

Dewsbury anger; should vigilantes think twice about any actions they are thinking of taking part in?

The populist media - as well as certain members on Yahoo Answers - have already decided to discredit the whole town, with the usual subjects of 'class' to strengthen their particular arguments. The worst thing about Dewsbury now, is that they are being observed not only by the police, but the (now) interested media. It will only take a few bricks being thrown to rest the cliched class-ridden arguments not only of the Londoncentric press, but of the various morons that have been on here over the last fortnight, who have declared themselves a 'spokesperson' of the situation.

  1. Bricks through the window?  That's an excellent idea!

  2. So you think the residents of Dewsbury should contain their anger, frustration and betrayal at the situation just in case a few members of Y!A take the p**s?

I dont think it has anything to do with 'class' and all to do with the family being involved in a disgusting scam to make a few quid. Dont expect me to feel sorry for that family.

  3. I remember a year ago, certain other morons were saying; if the McCanns were working class they wouldn`t get the coverage or the money they are getting now.

Well these people certainly got the coverage, but not the money.

  4. I don't think there will be any of this so called vigilante action,

there will only be anger towards the family. and rightly so.

After all as been finalised by the the courts they will be spirited away and never be seen again.

    PS.

Yours is one of the best questions that as been on here for a long time, you have hit the nail right on the head with this posting.

  5. The courts will deal with it...

People have a right to be angry, but not to break the law.

It is perfectly natural for the place where a crime happens, to be on the "front-page".

I am always hearing bad news [unfortunately], I then learn of another town or place I had never heard of until that event.

As for Yahoo, it would be very worrying if we didn't say we are shocked at certain bad behaviour....especially involving children.

Only after it has been proven, of course, otherwise we are like a lynching mob.

  6. No " vigilantes " are going to do anything!!!!! The village is just totally shocked at how a family could steep so low!!!!!!!!!

  7. "Londoncentric"  that was the original name for the M25!!

  8. Of course there is "class" involved. As I understand it, the Dewsbury Moor Council Estates is the British equivalent of what we call the "projects" in the U.S. Essentially public housing for poor people. What the lads and lassies on Fleet Street forget is that poor people are among the most socially conservative folks around. Not fiscally conservative. The "lolly" is a given in many of their lives and they have no desire to get government out of their mail boxes or have benefit checks end.

But, what happened to Shannon can be a trigger to action among the people in the Council Estate. Especially if they see the Crown or its representatives look upon the incident with a lower level of horror and disgust than they see. And that lot includes those who are "keen mixers" with no connection to the community, yet urge action.
