Dhaka Division v Rangpur Division – National Cricket League, 2012/13 – Match Update
Intense bowling performances from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Sharif-c77338 saw the Dhaka Division claiming an easy 7-wicket win over the Rangpur Division during their first-class match in the ongoing National Cricket League, played from November 16 to 19 at
the Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogra.
Rangpur Division kicked the match off by winning the toss and choosing to bat first. However, the Dhaka Division’s Mohammad Sharif (15.4-1-51-4) and Mosharraf Hossain (24-2-61-3) did not allow their opponents to take full advantage of that decision. Only
five batsmen were allowed to progress into double figures, while the rest remained insipid. However, a few contributions, from Tariq Ahmed (89), skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mahmudul-Hasan-c73899 (33), and Saymon Ahmed (30), were enough to get
Rangpur up to 283, after which they were all out on day two.
Dhaka put up a far more solid performance during their first innings, despite the efforts of Rangpur skipper Suhrawadi Shuvo (33-5-101-5) and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sajidul-Islam-c88015 (18-7-52-2). Opener Abdul Mazid (90) anchored the innings at the top, and coupled with contributions
from a handful of batsmen, including Saikat Ali (52), skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nazmul-Hossain-c78993 Milon (43), and Shuvagata Hom (39), these efforts enabled Dhaka to reach a final total of 355 before Rangpur succeeded in bowling them out on the third day of
play.
Player of the Match Mosharraf Hossain (20-5-50-4) and Mohammad Sharif (9.2-0-36-3) remained on the prowl during Rangpur’s second innings, and were aided by Nazmul Islam (14-5-32-2). Once again, only five batsmen were able to register double-digit scores.
However, this time around, their performances were not substantial enough to hold the team up. Wicketkeeper batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Robiul-Islam-Robi-c86350 (25), Mahmudul Hasan (18), Saymon Ahmed (17), and Tanveer Haider (17) all failed to convert their
starts into solid scores, and Rangur were eventually bowled for a paltry final total of 153.
The 82-run target set for them by Rangpur did not cause any difficulties for Dhaka, who managed to chase it down successfully within just 20 overs, at the expense of 3 wickets. Top order batsmen Abdul Mazid (0) and Nazmul Islam (6) were both unremarkable,
but http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Saikat-Ali-c77263 (31) got the Dhaka Division safely over the finish line, enabling them to reach 82 with 7 wickets remaining.
