Dhaka Gladiators outplayed us and deserved to win admits Barisal Burners skipper, Brad Hodge – Cricket News Update
Barisal Burners skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Brad-Hodge-c1184, admits that his side was outplayed by the Dhaka Gladiators in the finals of the Bangladesh Premier League played at the Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur on Wednesday, February 29, 2012.
Hodge paid tribute to the Gladiators, who became the first team be crowned BPL champions, and said that they deserved the win because they were the better team on the day. The Australian cricketer felt that 160 could have been the par score at Mirpur, and
posting a total of 140 in the finals in not a good effort at all.
He said, “We got outplayed today, the best team on the day won. We felt ourselves under pressure early on. Probably needed 160.  7 runs (an over) on that wicket wasn't good enough. The wicket gets better as the game goes along. We tried our best, couldn't
keep our foot down and get to 160.”
Hodge, who was touring Bangladesh for the first time, was proud of the way Burners played in the tournament. The Australian cricketer loved the atmosphere and support that his side received throughout the event. He said, “I'm proud of my guys. First time
here in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747, loved it and enjoyed it.”
Batting first, Burners set a target of 141 for the Gladiators to win the tournament. The Gladiators chased down the total with minimum of hassle, with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Imran-Nazir-c64248 leading the way. The Pakistan born cricketer, Nazir, continued his exuberant form with the
bat as he took apart the oppositions bowling attack. The right-hander was the highest scorer in the game - scoring 75 runs from 43 deliveries - and was bestowed with the man of the match honours for his efforts.
The right-handed batsman, who scored 390 runs in the tournament at an average of 43.33, hoped that this performance of his, lands him a place in the Pakistan national side.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Nazir said, “Thanks to the almighty who has helped me. Lots of joy, I have enjoyed the tournament and thanks to the crowd. Hope to be back in the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 T20 team soon.”
