Dhaka Gladiators v Barisal Burners –Bangladesh Premier League Final – Gladiators crowned the champions - Match update
Dhaka Gladiators entered their name in the record books of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 Twenty20, by winning the inaugural Bangladesh Premier League played at the Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur on Wednesday, February 29, 2012.
Gladiators squared off against Barisal Burners in the finals of the BPL.  Burners set a target of 141 runs - which the Gladiators chased down inside 16 overs with eight wickets in hand.
Gladiators went about the chase in an aggressive manner with opening batsmen, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Imran-Nazir-c64248 and Nazimuddin, dealing in boundaries. Nazir in particular was merciless, the hard hitting batsman did not let bowlers settle into any sort of rhythm and look to go
aerial whenever the ball was pitched in his hitting zone.
Nazimuddin, on the other hand, had to thank Burners sloppy fielding, as the batsman was dropped on two consecutive deliveries. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammed-Nazimuddin-c77528 was eventually caught by Mominul Haque off Suhrawadi Shuvo’s bowling in the fourth over. He made 13 runs from 12 deliveries.
Anamul Haque came in at number three. The batsman, who was dropped at scores of seven and 19, laid complete support to Nazir, who was in the form of his life. Nazir and Haque did not let the momentum slip and accumulated 110 runs at 9.42 runs per over.
Nazir failed to carry the bat for his side and got out just before he could see his side through to the finish line. The right-hander scored 75 runs from 43 deliveries at an astonishing strike rate of 174.41.
Burners themselves had a very good start to their innings with Ahmed Shehzad and skipper Brad Hodge amassing 43 runs for the opening wicket. However, the spin duo of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Saeed-Ajmal-c87859 and Shahid Afridi hampered the flow of runs during the middle phase of the innings
and restricted the Burners to 140.
