Dhaka Metropolis v Rangpur Division – National Cricket League, 2012/13 – Match Update - Dhaka Metropolis win by 9 wickets
A timely unbeaten century from Shamsur Rahman, coupled with the fiery bowling of Talha Jubair, guided the Dhaka Metropolis to an easy 9-wicket win over the Rangpur Division, in their first-class match during the ongoing National Cricket League, played at
the Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogra from December 1 to 3.
The Rangpur Division won the toss on day one and decided to bat first – however, the devastating http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Talha-Jubair-c92674 (15-7-35-8) came out in full force, and aided by Arafat Sunny (1.5-1-0-2), succeeded in bowling Rangpur out for a paltry first innings total. Only
four batsmen succeeded in registering double figures – out of these, only Tariq Ahmed (43) and Sajidul Islam (48*) managed decent performances, while wicketkeeper batsman Litton Das (18) and Alauddin Babu (12) failed to capitalise on starts. A total of 6 batsmen
were dismissed on duck as Jubair and Sunny razed Rangpur’s batting order to the ground, forcing them to succumb, all out, at a meagre 129.
Rangpur’s bowlers attempted to make amends for their team’s shocking batting performance, and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mahmudul-Hasan-c73899 (10-4-36-2) put great effort into keeping the Dhaka
Metropolis batsmen in check. However, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mehrab-Hossain-c75570 jnr (30) chipped in with useful contributions, to get their team total up to 253 before they were all out on the second day of play.
Rangpur fared better by a considerable margin during their second innings, with four batsmen – http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Litton-Kumar-Das-c73018 (62), Tariq Ahmed (52), Alauddin Babu (48), and Suhrawadi Shuvo (42) – chipping in with sizeable contributions. Once again, however, Player of the Match
Jubair (14-3-68-3) was on the prowl, and backed by Elias Sunny (19-4-73-2) and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Ashraful-c76740 (8-2-38-2), he succeeded in cutting the Rangpur Division off at 266, ensuring that his team needed to chase an achievable 143 in order to clinch a victory.
The Dhaka Metropolis then proceeded to breeze through the chase, courtesy centurion http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mehrab-Hossain-jnr-c75571 (21*) joined Rahman for an unbeaten 113-run stand, which
got the team up to 147, with 9 wickets remaining.
