Dhanny Oud topples Max Desai in Men’s Singles tie of Division 2 - Slazenger Cup 2012
Auckland’s Dhanny Oud played his vital role to lead his team to victory and overpowered Max Desai in Division 2 - Slazenger Cup at Hamilton, New Zealand on August 9, 2012.
This encounter was the first Men’s Singles tie of match between Auckland and Waikato and it was resolved in three sets.
Both shuttlers kept the audience glued to their chair while piling up final figure of 18-21, 21-18 and 21-9.
Though, Dhanny faced a severe blow straight away in the opening game but he managed to stand tall in the ending two games.
On the other hand, Max failed to capitalise his initial advantage and squandered a golden opportunity of a straight-set win.

Dhanny gathered few consecutive points in third quarter of the set which took him to a reasonable score position but he had to surrender when his opponent placed a winning figure of 21-18 on the board.
However, the Auckland shuttler did not lose his nerve after this loss and counter-balanced the situation with a gutsy performance in second set.
This time Dhanny played with great conviction and enthralled his challenger with a commendable show of skills.
He started dictating from the very first stroke and kept Max under his influence all the way to game point situation. He did not lose focus at any stage of the game and wrapped this part of battle with a favourable margin of 21-18.
Both contenders were poles apart in terms of performance in the decider as Dhanny completely outclassed his competitor and emerged as victor with a huge difference of twelve points in the final result.
He did not give his rival even a single counter-attack opportunity and dominated with a staggering knock. He maintained incredible pace and cruised to success with 21-9 score on the board.
