Dhanya Nair treads into second stage of qualifying round in Syed Modi International India GPG

Women’s Singles shuttler Dhanya Nair played flawless badminton in her opening match of qualifying round in Shaheed Dr. K.L. Garg - Syed Modi International India GPG and sealed her first win on December 18, 2012.
She cast out the compatriot player Kaberi Phukon in just two games by registering final figures of 21-12 and 21-19.
Both Indian campaigners displayed great fighting spirit in the local badminton arena of Lucknow and earned great deal of admiration.
The battle heated up immediately in the beginning of first set as Dhanya Nair did not give her rival enough time to get settled and confounded her with an amazing craft on court.
She clinched three points in a row and doubled her lead by piling up an impressive total of 7. She did not lose this rhythm and widened the gap with a decent margin before interval.
Though, Kaberi strived hard to proceed on the points table but her fluctuated performance kept her at the lower end until half time.
She finished first half of the set with a three-point deficit and could not level the score even after the one-minute break.
On the other hand, Dhanya capitalised her initial advantage and transformed it into a winning margin. She unleashed a series of productive strokes and reached to a commanding position of 14-11.
She bagged seven out of ending eight points and registered an overwhelming total of 21-12. This timely win provided her the required momentum and she cruised to victory also in the following set.
Though, Dhanya took some time to get on right track and this sluggishness resulted in a nerve-racking margin. She started the beating after 6-6 and gained a decent advantage before the mid-game break.
She was having a slight edge in third quarter of the set when her competitor brought life back into contest with an electrifying performance.
Kaberi caught her challenger with figure of 17-17 and both contenders remained equal on the points table until last shot was played.
Finally, this cliff-hanging tussle ended when Dhanya ruled the court in concluding rallies and put a winning score of 21-19.
Now she will lock horns with Trupti Murgunde in the qualifying round of Shaheed Dr. K.L. Garg - Syed Modi International India GPG.
