Dharma Alrie Guna topples Poodchalat Pisit in quarter-final fight at Singapore International Series
Indonesia’s in-form shuttler Dharma Alrie Guna continued his winning streak as he played with impressive precision on court and toppled Thailand’s Poodchalat Pisit in quarter-final fight at the Singapore International Series 2012 on Thursday, August 16,
in Singapore.
The higher ranked Dharma, who is the third seeded shuttler in Men’s Singles main draw of the championship, was in full swing as he played dominating badminton and overpowered the 11th seeded Poodchalat in an emphatic fashion.
The third seeded Dharma had to employ all of his skills to secure the opening set with a tight score. However, he did not face any trouble from his Thai opponent in the second game and easily finished off the contest in straight game with a tremendous margin
on score board.
The lower ranked Poodchalat, in the meanwhile, also showed glimpses of his brilliance on court as he played with aggression on court but failed to stop the progress of his Indonesian opponent and lost the match without grabbing any game.
In the first game, Dharma tried to create pressure on his rival from the opening points but failed to put up strong show as his lower ranked Thai challenger was quick in taking the bird timely from all areas.
The impressive fight from both sides did not allow anyone to take a clear lead until the one-minute break.
After the mid-game break, Dharma showed his class by playing positive and fast badminton in front-court area. He dominated the pace of rallies and took the set with a 21-19 score on the board.
The second game proved to be just a piece of cake for Dharma who played with complete control and kept his rival on back foot. He built a strong lead on score board until the end of opening half.
After the one-minute break, Dharma continued showing his brilliance as he maintained his upper hand over his Thai opponent and easily ended up the second set with a smashing margin of 21-12.
The spirited Indonesian shuttler easily won this Men’s Singles quarter-final encounter in straight sets by a 21-19 and 21-12 score on the board.
