Dhoni asks umpires to be more consistent with their decisions - Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028 has once again opposed the contentious Decision Review System, urging the on-field umpires to be more consistent with their decisions rather than being dependant on the technology.
"I was a big fan of Hot Spot before the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 tour. I am not so sure now. Same with snickometer,” said Dhoni while speaking to the media reporters at the post match press conference in Melbourne.
“I would rather show faith and rely on umpires who have been doing the job all these years. If umpires are consistent, I don't mind," said Dhoni.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and its players have been against the Umpire Decision Review System (UDRS) right from the start. The technology was, for the first time, used in an India-Sri Lanka series with both the sides tasting the bitter
side of it. Since then, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 has been opposing the idea of referral systems at national as well as international level.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 recently authorized the concerned board of every International team to decide whether to use the technology before any bilateral series they put their hands into. Hence, India, taking the utmost advantage of this situation, has ensured the absence of
DRS in every series they have played ever since.
Recently the BCCI did not agree to use Decision Review System in its ongoing Test series against Australia, in the latter’s backyard.
Lack of the review system went mostly in India’s favour in the four match Test series with just a few decisions favouring http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746, especially in the first innings.
Experienced middle-order batsman of Australia, Mike Hussey, was given caught behind off http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Andrew-Graham-Downton-c44379 Cowan’s dismissal was also controversial according to the batsman
himself as well as the Australian media.
Dhoni said that after making a wrong decision, the umpires don’t need to get pressurized and should keep on giving judgments boldly.
"They don't need to go into their shell after giving a wrong decision. They should be consistent and give their decisions boldly. At the same time, we must understand that they are doing a tough job," he said.
Despite a couple of decisions going against Australia, the Kangaroos ultimately won the match quite convincingly by 122 runs. The second Test of the four-match series begins in Sydney on January 3, 2012.
