Speaking to media reporters ahead of the crucial tri-series match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 at the Sydney Cricket Ground, the 30-year-old wicketkeeper batsman said that media had selectively quoted him, and tried to get replies from Sehwag
to suggest that there was a communication gap between him, and the senior players.
The Ranchi boy strongly denied any reports of dissension, and said that there are no problems in the dressing room, hence there is nothing to settle.
“Often what's important is, you can't see just that particular answer,” said Dhoni when asked about the controversy at Saturday’s post-match press conference.
“Maybe the build-up from the first question as to what you are answering [is important]…If you see the whole press conference, it will offer a valid point as to what was said," he added further.
The controversy erupted last Sunday when Dhoni in a press conference following India’s 51 run defeat to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758, had said that he was not playing Sehwag, Tendulkar and Gambhir together because he feared that their fielding might
cost the team an extra 20 runs in the field.
Sehwag, in a separate press conference lashed back at Dhoni – who had not played in that match as he was serving a slow over-rate ban – saying they had never been told that fielding was an issue.
But Dhoni said that he never meant what the media highlighted and he reiterated there was nothing wrong between him and his senior players.
Asked if the controversy had affected the environment in the dressing room, Dhoni said that they all had a good laugh about it, as there was no reality in those reports.
“…we enjoy it actually when things like this happened. It's the talk of the dressing room,” said Dhoni.
“We try to get the positives out of it. It's half an hour of good talk in the dressing room, because that's the best we can get out of it," he added further.
