Dhoni is confused says Kris Srikkanth – Cricket News Update
In the wake of the team’s first back to back home-Test defeats since the turn of the century, former chairman of selectors http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028 and his way of dealing with matters, especially when things get out of hand.
"Dhoni has lost what to do," Srikkanth said while speaking to CNN-IBN, "He is confused and when things go out of his control, he just lets things drift."
The series began on an impressive note for the Indians as they swept aside England at Ahmedabad, only to suffer similar fate in the next two bouts. Their most recent beating at Kolkata has given the tourists leverage, and a chance to beat the mighty Indians on their soil in a Test series, a feat last accomplished by a David Gower-led side in 1984.
Dhoni has made the headlines for all the wrong reasons during the series. He criticized the Ahmedabad track, despite his side winning by a comfortable margin, and further entered in a spat with Eden Gardens curator, Prabir Mukherjee, after the latter’s refusal for not preparing a rank turner.
Irrespective of the circumstances, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 were favourite to claim a win at Kolkata, where they have not been defeated since 1999. However, the Men in Blue failed to live up to the expectations and their formidable batting lineup collapsed against the English attack.
They made just 316 in the first innings, and managed just a lowly 247, largely to the efforts of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 with just 41 runs for victory. The tourists duly obliged by overhauling the target in the opening hour of play on day 5.
Srikkanth was highly critical of Dhoni’s approach, claiming that his focus should have been on the team’s performances rather than pitches.
"His (Dhoni's) statements were nothing to do with winning the Test, but the wicket at Ahmedabad was horrible and we needed a rank turner. If you have won the Test match, why do you go and make a statement about the wicket? I think that's where the Indian slide started for me," he said.
"If a batsman like Ashwin can hang around than why not any top order batsmen? The focus was more on wickets rather than cricket," he added.
