Dhoni not bothered about his form
The triumphant Indian skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mahendra-Singh-Dhoni-c73820 has acknowledged that he is facing "poor shot selection" during his past few performances though he did opine that he is "not really bothered" about his Test form.
While talking to media persons ahead of the deciding third Test match against the Kiwis, Dhoni said that he has been middling the ball quite well both in match situations as well as during the practice sessions.
“I have chosen to play wrong shots while batting with the tailenders. Actually, when you bat with tailenders, you tend to take more initiative and try and play big shots and get out in the process. I am really not bothered about my form",
said the Indian skipper.
The preparations of the home side were spoiled by the heavy showers for the second consecutive day. Only the batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar could practice in the nets for almost 20 minutes before the rain forced the players back to the
dressing room.
When asked how would the lack of practice affect his side in the match, Dhoni responded quite optimistically that sometimes it helps not to practice too much, "It may be a blessing in disguise that we aren't getting enough time to practice.
We are playing so much that it's better not to push oneself too much", he said.
The Uttar Pardesh left-handed batsman Suresh Raina has struggled in his last few appearances but Dhoni defended the youngster saying that the 23 year old has failed to score in his last few matches but he is an economical player, who often
gets out playing big shots.
The Nagpur track seems to offer some help to the bowlers but Dhoni supported the four-bowler theory adopted by the side in the last two games ruling out the possibility of trying an extra pacer in the decider.
The Indian captain further added that the absence of the spearhead fast bowler Zaheer Khan would provide the youngsters, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ishant-Sharma-c64566 an ideal opportunity to respond to the pressures of international cricket and push their
cases.
The 29-year-old from Ranchi was also positive that the injured pacer, Zaheer Khan, would be available for the series against the Proteas next month. Zaheer Khan suffered a groin strain during the second innings of New Zealand in the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hyderabad-c792
Test.
Both http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 will face off against each other in the decider of the three-match Test series tomorrow in Nagpur.
