I totally disagree with our coach- Kirsten.

Yeah, Dhoni may have done a commendable job as the ODI captain, and his cool composure, and the ability to handle youngsters well, may have benefitted the team. In that way, he perhaps may seem to be ready to wear the crown of the test skipper as well. But at the same time, I'm pretty sure that he would also be ready to kick off the seniors (especially Ganguly and Dravid) from the test team as well. Such a disrespectful approach towards the seniors can't possibly ensure success to him-atleast not in tests. Sehwag should be made the captain after Kumble. He has the leadership qualities, and also, he would manage the big guns well.

Besides, is Dhoni really that much interested about test cricket? I don't think so! He wouldn't have pulled out of the SL tour, when his team needed him, if he really bothered that much about tests. India may have lost, but atleast others tried-Dhoni was the only one who fled. So, can we bestow the test captaincy on someone, who doesn't have enough committment? Also, Dhoni's record in tests, doesn't highlight him as an accomplished cricketer. Sehwag is ahead of him, in terms of experience and record.

I see no reason not to promote Dhoni as the captain of the indian test team, but his fondness for the young players can prove counter productive if he fails to check his impulse. You just can't write off Sachin, Ganguli, Dravid, Laxman, and Kumble overnight. Irrespective of the fairness issue, the young indian team is not strong enough in all the departments of the game to successfully face Australia, England, and South Africa as yet. Dhoni may have his own personal reasons to quickly build a young team but he can't allowed to run the show all by himself.

no i don't agree with Kirsten till date, Dhoni has one little flaw in his approach, he has discarded seniors and these seniors will win the series in October ! he has to come out of the fixed mindset and be more flexible and then he can be a great leader in all formats of the game !

i would like to see fab 5 playing in test series against Australia !

Management is managing all kind of people intelligently, i think he needs a little more time for longer version of the game and i don't think he can win much test matches with the opposing attitude towards seniors!

oh, please, i beg the indian team to not let him be captain. i couldnt take it. everytime india will win, it will be, oh it was because of dhoni that inida won, oh he is such a great captain, ect...

i really wouldnt watch the side. moreover he would probaly take out all he seniors out of the side aswell, and replace the likes of dravid and sachin with utthapa and sharma, i really coulnt take it.

Gary'z right. Dhoni is ready to lead team India in Tasts. But pressure will terribly affect him. So, let time decide. At the moment, Kumble's good.

I absolutely agree with Kirsten. I don't like Kumble as a captain. Lacks the agression that Ganguly had. I would like to see Ganguly being given the test captaincy and Dhoni made vice captain under his leadership. That will provide him with important experience under a better captain. I don't dislike Kumble. However, he is not fit to be a captain.

but Dhoni could do the job ,its not for every one being captain tendulkar couldn't handle the pressure

Coming back to your Q,

MS Dhoni has indeed shown a lot of maturity in his captaincy and I feel he will do a good job as a test captain too.

But Anil Kumble hasn't been bad either. You don't always need to look at the results to judge the capability of a captain. Tests and ODI's are different. Anil Kumble has shown his capabilities as a captain and I would like to see him continue until his retirement which is probably another year away.

He has served a lot for his country and team and he must be rewarded for his efforts and achievements.

No doubt that Dhoni is the most eligible successor to Anil Kumble.

And I think Kirsten too has the same views....so I agree with him!

Though he may be right,he should not have disclosed it. Moreover Sehwag will also be as good as Dhoni.So Sehwag must be made captain
