The Argentine winger has stated that Madrid should be prepared for the threat of Dortmund and believes that the Germans have great quality amongst their ranks.
One of the finest spectacles in this year’s UEFA Champions League is the semi final tie between Spanish giants Real Madrid and former German Bundesliga winners Borussia Dortmund.
The Champions League is considered as the top European competition and when it comes to providing matches of such stature, it doesn’t get any better than the Madrid-Dortmund clash.
The unusual thing that has surfaced in the outcome of this year’s European competition after the run of events is that no English or Italian team has made the cut to join the Spanish and German powerhouses in the semi final stage,
in-fact it is either Germany or http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011.
Barcelona and Bayern Munich are the other two teams who will be competing for a slot in the final of the event that is to be held in Wembley in May and the hallowed pedestal is either heading to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 or to the Spanish nation.
Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund were also drawn together in the group stage of the tournament and it was the German side that came out on top in what was probably the group of death.
The former German champions eventually topped the group and have since then enjoyed a somewhat fortunate ride in context to the draws of the knock-out stages.
The two sides have now met again and Los Blancos winger Di Maria believes that Dortmund are there to win and it will not be an easy going for the Madrid based outfit.
"We have two very important matches against Borussia Dortmund and we know it will not be easy. We struggled against them in the group stage and I believe that it will be the same this time," Di Maria told the club's official website.
"They are a very similar team to us, with a very strong counterattack, and they are also on a good run of form. We have to do things at 100 percent to get through the tie."
The winner of the tie will either face Bayern Munich or Catalan giants http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 in the final of the competition.
