Chelsea’s interim manager, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roberto-c31294 Di Matteo has admitted that it won’t be easy for his side to use their one goal advantage to get past Barcelona, since the Spanish side is capable of beating just about anyone on their day.
The Blues played host to Barcelona in the first leg of their Champions League encounter and following a game, which saw the Catalans dominate most of the match, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 claim a one goal to nil win.
As a result of this win, Chelsea will now go into the second leg with a one goal advantage, as they look to get past the Spanish side and make it into the finals of the tournament.
Despite his side winning the game, Di Matteo is still not certain that his team will be able to make it to the next round of the tournament.
The manager is taking a very cautious approach and stated that there is still a 50-50 chance of both the teams making it through.
When talking about the game and the tie on the whole, the Blues interim manager is quoted to have said: “It’s a great result for us.”
“You know when you play http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604, you’re going to have to do a lot of defending. I watched them against all the other teams – [AC] Milan, Real Madrid – and they’re going to have a lot of possession.”
“You just have to try to limit their threat and then just be clinical when you get your chances.”
“It’s still 50-50. There’s still the second leg to play away from home and, as we all know, it’s going to be a difficult one.”
“I think this group of players have shown again tonight their determination, their courage, and to play against the top team in the world, they showed what quality there is in this team.”
The second leg is set to take next week on Tuesday. Given the fact that Barcelona are much better when playing at home, it is going to be an uphill battle for the Blues in the upcoming game.
