Chelsea’s interim manager, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roberto-c31294 Di Matteo has gone on to insist that he did his very best to help Andre Villas-Boas and has denied rumours that he conspired against the manager.
Villas-Boas, who was signed by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 at the start of the current Premier League season, was shown the door in March.
The manager failed to really make his mark on the team and as a result, Roman Abramovich felt that the only option that he had, was to let the manager leave.
Following his dismissal, Di Matteo was made the interim manager for the club. This means that he is going to be managing the team until the end of the season, or until someone else is appointed as the new manager for the team.
Di Matteo, when talking about the situation at hand is quoted to have said:
"I did my best and Andre knows it"
"I did not conspire against him and all the decisions we took, we took together.
"I have always behaved with the utmost professionalism and loyalty towards the club, the staff, the team and fans."
He then went on to insist that he deserves the promotion and the way he has been handeling the team, proves just how good he really is.
“I deserve my new role," he added. "How can you hesitate when you have the opportunity to manage one of the most important football clubs in the world?
"All new managers inevitably replace a colleague when things go wrong or results are not up to expectations. This is the nature of football."
The interim manager helped the team come out with all guns blazing and helped the team go on and beat http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003 by four goals to one, which saw them make it to the next round of the Champions League.
At the same time, the team is now in the semi finals of the FA Cup and should DI Matteo play his cards right, he could help the team win the trophy this season.
Nonetheless, it is going to be up to Abramovich to decide just what the future holds in store for the Italian and whether he is going to be appointed on a permanent basis or not.
