http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Antonio-Di-Natale-c6306 insists that while he has a lot of respect for Cesare Prandelli, he believes that the manager’s ideas about the openly g*y players in the country will be repulsive to the Italian people.
The Italy coach recently stated that g*y footballers should come out of the hiding to announce their sexual orientation, and insisted that such a step will be acceptable to their fans.
The Udinese striker insisted that he has a lot of respect for the professional prowess of the Italian manager, but insisted that what his suggestions about homosexual players will not illicit a positive response from the fans and the society.
The Bianconeri ace insisted that the life of a professional footballer is very complex, and the choice to go public on matters such as these can land the player into a lot of trouble.
While talking to the press, the Italian Golden Boot winner said:
“Breaking the taboo of homosexuality in football is difficult, almost impossible. I wonder how the fans would react? I'm sorry, but I disagree with the choice to go public, at least in football because privacy is very important. Our world, in some respects,
is very complex."
While Di Natale opposed Italy manager, Prandelli has found a supporter in the form of Diego Milito. The Nerazzurri striker voiced his agreement to the manager’s view about g*y players in football, and insisted that the fans would admire a professional footballer
who shares his most intimate secrets with the fanatics.
The Argentine insisted that the idea of his fellow players living with a secret like that in their heart repels him. He stated that it is wrong to keep such things in clandestine, and expressed his belief that everyone from players to sponsors to fans will
love g*y individuals, without giving much importance to their sexual orientation.
"I agree with Prandelli. Personally I would not ever feel that my partner was living with a secret. But if so, it would be wrong to remain silent. I'm sure the fans, team-mates and sponsors would love a player not caring about his private life." He added.
