  1. Almost all fruits and vegetables on the market are good for you.  Eat plenty of leafy greens (spinach, etc) and stay away from deep fried foods.  Always go whole grain.  Stay away from enriched white flour foods(donuts, pastries, cakes).   Use whole grain breads to substitute your empty calorie white bread, whole wheat pasta in place of reg pasta.  Use whole grain flour instead of white flour for cooking.  Can't stress how important whole grains are for health.  Just be health conscious.  No carbonated beverages, sugar packed desserts.  Fruits are better (YUM).. Dried fruits and raw nuts (almonds, etc.) make great snacks.  Whole grain cereals, Granola bars, oatmeal..   Drink plenty of water!!!  Choose lean meats (fish, chicken, etc).  walk 30 mins a day.  Take your vitamins, drink green tea... good luck!

  2. Avoid sugar and high amounts of carbohydrates.  Eat balanced meals with whole grains at regular times.

Losing weight helps control diabetes.  Eat small dinners.

  3. http://www.carbs-information.com/

You have to keep your carbs low

I also have found out I am type 2

    good luck

  4. learn about carb counting! seriously, count every carb that goes in your mouth. meat is fine, fried, really not, youre adult onset, so you dont take insulin to cover it...you have it a lot harder. you cant eat anything you want.

look up carb free foods and stock up on those. like mozzarella cheese, skinless chicken (coq au vin! excellent.) just google diabetes friendly recipes., they always have a carb count on them.

  5. Eat healthier and better. Sounds good, but it cost a little more to so and it's hard not to get in a rut or have boring meals. I like the web site Taste of Home. Great menus and easy to fix.  Visit my blog site as well and read my history. I am not angel but my HbA1C started at 12.1, Nov. 2006  and is now 5.5.

    Best Wishes.
