Jay Wilson clears up some confusion regarding a few sarcastic comments from another member of the game’s development team.
Diablo 3 was one of the first games that brought co-operative role playing gaming to the mainstream with the first and second instalments in the series proving to be massive hits amongst the gaming community.
However, the series dropped off the radar and no one knew whether the game would return for a third outing. It turns out that Blizzard was just waiting for the right time to reintroduce the game to the masses.
Yet, even though the game has been announced and a beta also in the pipeline, it seems that no one is any closer as to finding out an actual release date.
All that aside, it seems everything related to the game becomes huge news among gamers as a recent post by Micah Whiple, the community manager, on Blizzard’s forums was misinterpreted by the fans of the game.
In his post, Mr. Whiple compared the Diablo games to the M. Night Shyamalan movies and how apart from the first two the rest were disappointments. He also advised gamers not to get their hopes up for Diablo 3 either.
Jay Wilson, the game director, took to the forum to clear everything up where he stated that the game was shaping up to be nothing short of brilliant and that the Diablo community must have mistaken Whiple’s sarcasm as him being serious.
“We want you to have high expectations for Diablo III and all Blizzard games. That’s what pushes us to try to make the best gaming experiences we possibly can.”
He continued, “If Diablo III wasn’t a worthy next instalment in the Diablo series, we wouldn’t release it. That’s the way we do it. That’s the way we’ve always done it.”
The game director also took the opportunity to draw up a new standard for which gamers ought to compare Diablo III to and that was the Evil Dead series.
“Also, I think Diablo is much more comparable to the Evil Dead series personally, and those just kept getting better.”
Only time will tell whether or not that comparison holds true.
