Diablo 3 release date outed by online retailer

Amazon.com seem to have announced the release date of the upcoming Blizzard title, as they tend to do with unannounced games, but should we be getting excited?
It has become common practice for retailers to release details of up-coming games before either the publisher or the developers do. One of the ‘regulars’ who are constantly reveal such information are Amazon.com.
Not only have they announced the release dates and DLC packs of a number of games in the past such as Batman: Arkham City’s Robin and Nightwing DLC packs, but also listed the release date of the upcoming, as yet unofficial, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2.
This time around the retailer is claiming to have copies of the eagerly anticipated and long overdue PC title, Diablo 3.
Amazon.com have been right on a number of occasions, in terms of announcing release dates, however, they have also been off the mark a fair number of times as well. So before anyone jumps to any conclusions regarding the latest ‘tease’ it is best to take
a look at the info.
Blizzard announced that the game was set to release in the second quarter of 2012, however, knowing how secretive the game’s development has been, even that seems like a rough estimate instead of a concrete time period.
At the same time, the game is only just preparing for a closed beta, where fans will be once again be able to help the developers test out the latest iteration of the game.
Amazon.com has given the game just over a month before it is released as the online retailer has Diablo 3 scheduled for release on the 17th of April.
That seems a bit too soon seeing how the game’s development is still progressing and the developers have also stated that they will not be forced into rushing the game out before it is near perfection.
Based on that alone and the lack of regular info coming out of the studio one can be near certain that Amazon is trying to rake in a few pre-orders of the game amidst all the uncertainty.
At the same time however, Blizzard have neither confirmed nor denied the speculation so it could very well be true as unlikely as it seems.
