Blizzard will “polish” the eagerly anticipated game over the next few months before its mid-May release date. Fans expected to more than a little excited.
The Diablo games earned a huge fan base when they were released in 1996 and 2000, yet those very fans have been left waiting for well over 11 years for a third instalment in the series.
Not only that, but for the past few months they have also been left in agony as they waited for Blizzard to announce a release date for Diablo 3. After being teased, beta-ed and shown in every conceivable way without actually being released.
However, all that changed when Mike Morhaime, the CEO and co-founder of Blizzard, said, “After many years of hard work by our development team and months of beta testing by hundreds of thousands of dedicated players around the world, we’re now in the homestretch.”
Many felt that that would be the end of another short, teasing statement, yet there was more.
“We look forward to putting the final polish on Diablo III over the next two months and delivering the ultimate action-RPG experience to gamers worldwide starting on May 15.”
So fans of the series now have a date to mark on their calendars as well as a reason to look forward to emptying out their bank outs, or at least $60 from it, as Diablo 3 will mark its return to the gaming scene in May.
Diablo 3 is sees, “players take on the role of one of five heroic characters – barbarian, witch doctor, wizard, monk, or demon hunter – and engage in pulse-pounding combat with endless legions of evil.”
The storyline will follow players as the attempt to “rid Sanctuary from the corrupting forces of the Burning h***s”.
The developers also stated that they can expect a number of changes and enhancements from the beta version that a select few were fortunate enough to play and that the final version of the game would see more depth added to it.
Diablo 3 is set for release on PCs and for the first time on consoles as well, as the game is set to ship out for the PlayStation 3 as well.
