I was wondering if there is a way to still talk and receive phone calls while using a dial up connection?

All you need is a V.92 version of Data Modem for your dial-up connection.

V.92 modems have a feature called MOH - Modem On Hold.

It allows you to put your dial-up connection on hold while you answer incoming phone calls.

If you also have Caller-ID service with your phone company, V.92 modems will also display the Caller-ID of the calling number, on your PC screen.

Yes. Just get a cell phone, if you don't already have one. That's what I did. Now people can call me on there while I'm on line, and I can call out if I need to as well while I am on the dial up line.
