Dialated pancreatic duct? Fluid in the abdomin? WHAT?

Ok, 8 months ago I had a pretty bad case or pancreatitis. I ended up in the hospital for 2 months, developed 2 pseudo cysts and diabetes. They placed a pancreatic stent (pancreatic duct, not the common bile duct) and then removed it. The pseudocyst were still there.

NOW, a week ago I had abdominal pains and horrible heart burn.

Went to the ER. The did some blood work.Pancreatic enzymes were alittle elevated, but NOT pancreatitis numbers. White blood cell count is around 14000. Neither one of these findings is a surprise. My doctors been doing monthly blood work since I left the hospital, and this is how my nubers have been running.

They did a Catscan...and...My pancratic duct is dilated? wha...?

And, I have "free fluid" in my abdomin. Some sort of soft tissue "concern" near my common bile duct. I asked what all this mean..and got an "I dunno" from the ER doc! He told me to go to my gastroenertologist and discharged me. And oh yeah..."remember to come back and pick up the "final" results of the CT, those were only preliminary." They still have to go to AUSTRALIA to be read (I live in the USA) UGH. Soooo... Of course I made an apointment with my doc, but, I don't see him for a week. Anyone have any idea what any of this means? Especially why would my pancreatic duct be dialated??

  1. A pancreatic pseudocyst is a collection of fluid around the pancreas. The fluid in the cyst is usually pancreatic juice that has leaked out of a damaged pancreatic duct. Pancreatic pseudocysts arise after acute pancreatitis or chronic pancreatitis. In some patients the pseudocyst may develop soon after an attack of acute pancreatitis. Often the patient can present many weeks or months after recovery from of an attack of acute or chronic pancreatitis.

increased WBC may still be normal because u still have infection present in you. . .

in terms with dilation of panreatic duct, you just have to wait for ur doctor for the results, i don't want to scare you or frighten you but some researchs says that it may be related with pancreatic cancer. . .

but of course it all depends on what the results are from ur lab tests. . .
