Dialed In to kick start his 2012 campaign in a one mile long allowance test
The 4-year-old Robert V. LaPenta owned colt, Dialed In started his 3-year-old campaign over at a mile in the Grade 3 Holy Bull Stakes last year, and the colt came out of it as a victor going 2 in 2 after his maiden breaker at first asking.
In his 4-year-old season Nicholas P. Zito trained 4-year-old colt is starting off his campaign with the one turn mile test this year as well in an allowance test on 3 March, 2012, at Gulfstream Park.
“We started his season off in a one-turn mile last year in the Holy Bull and he won,” said trainer Nick Zito Wednesday afternoon. “He’ll be going two turns after this one. There are a lot of tough horses in this race. We’re just looking for a good effort
to get him going again.”
The Kentucky bred son of Mineshaft, out of mare Miss Doolittle by Storm Cat, Dialed In last raced at Pimlico in May last year, when he finished fourth in the Grade 1 Preakness Stakes behind winner Shackleford, who took apart the favourite of the race Animal
Kingdom in second, while covering the 1 3/16 mile distance in 1 minute and 56.47 seconds.
He couldn’t make it to the Belmont Stakes, but he started off the Triple Crown with a run in the Grade 1 Kentucky Derby going over a distance of 1 ¼ miles at Churchill Downs on 7 May, 2011, and finishing a dismal eighth on the day behind the winner Animal
Kingdom, who covered the distance in 2 minutes and 2.04 seconds.
Dialed In started his sophomore campaign by winning the Grade 3 Holy Bull Stakes, and then finished second in an allowance/optional claimer at about 1 1/8 miles at Gulfstream Park on 6 March, 2011, to winner Equestrio.
His biggest win of the season came after, when he downed the Grade 1 Florida Derby at about 1 1/8 miles on 3 April, 2011, where he defeated the likes of Shackleford in second and To Honor and Serve in third, while covering the 1 1/8 mile distance in 1 minute
and 50.07 seconds.
Pants on Fire also makes his return after finishing fifth in the Grade 1 Haskell Invitational last year and he will be the most accomplished to challenge Dialed In in the allowance test at Gulfstream Park.
