Dialing out from a dorm phone?

Hey, so I haven't had a cell phone for over a week and I'm starting to get desperate. We have a room phone that we just hooked up, but I have no idea how to dial out to my house or someone's cell phone, etc. I go to UMass, does anyone know if there's anything specific I have to do to call out?

usually in dorms you have to dial 9 to get out.  so 9 then the number. Good luck.

Usually the normal dial out code is "9" just dial 9 then the number you are trying to call.
