West Ham United’s midfield powerhouse Mohamed may be on his way out of Upton Park in the January transfer window, with Arsenal and Newcastle understood to be interested in the Senegalese international.
The midfield enforcer is understood to have a clause in his contract which allows him to leave West Ham in a cut-price deal. This development has alerted many clubs, especially Arsenal and Newcastle United.
The Senegalese international has been in fine form ever since he made his move to Upton Park on a free transfer from Wigan Athletic. as per his release clause.
West Ham manage Sam Allardyce admitted that it may be difficult to hold on to the combative midfielder because of his transfer clause and the winter transfer window fast approaching. The manager said:
“There is always a situation where you are powerless to keep a player. Because of the size of the fee, you can’t turn it down and the chairman says: ‘We can’t say no, we’ve got to move him on’ but I won’t be disclosing a player’s contract.”
The manager also revealed that his contract was one of the main reasons why he moved to Upton Park in the summer. The manager also admitted that the winter transfer window is a worrying time for managers and added:
“There is always a chance you will lose football players when they start getting attention, because everybody is always searching for better players. All that distraction starts now and doesn’t finish until January 31, when the transfer window is closed.
That’s why we should all have a break.”

Diame can also operate in a box-to-box role, and help the manager rotate in midfield. He is also a good option to have on the bench if the team is looking for a plan B whenever things don’t work out.
