Diamond Belle seeking valuable win in Ladbrokes.com Handicap at Folkestone
It is not hard make a strong case for both Take A Note and Centrifugal, but the vote goes to Diamond Belle in the Ladbrokes.com Handicap at Folkestone on Tuesday, September 18th.
The 3-year-old is a powerful filly, carrying two fantastic performances under her belt. After facing a lot of embarrassment, the filly went on a long vacation in October last year. During her layoff, the Noel Quinlan-trained ironed out her flaws, and returned
strongly in August 2012.
The daughter of Rock Of Gibraltar showed a magnificent act on her seasonal debut. The audience at Redcar saw her displaying a flawless effort in the Caribbean Carnival Day Saturday 11th August Rating Related Maiden Stakes.
Under P. J. McDonald, the 9-1 chance was so dominant that the rest of the pack looked helpless. A stunning shot guided her to an easy 6-length success – her first at the professional level.
She carried forward her good work, when sent at Kempton on August 20th. But luck twisted against her favour and as a result, she missed the gold by one and a quarter lengths in the Flat Track Corner Fillies' Handicap.
In the hands of James Doyle, she came towards centre course ahead of the final few furlongs. Although the Burns Farm Racing-owned stayed on inside the final furlong, it was not possible for her to outpace the winner.
The filly has showed two decent runs this year, but the connections believe the best is yet to come. If she delivers her one hundred percent, a notable share of the purse will definitely come to her.
The class 4 contest has attracted only five horses. In search of a cash prize of £4,852, they will lock horns in the 7-furlong meeting, set to start at 15:50 GMT.
Usain Colt had excuses for all 2012 defeats. So, it might be dangerous to rule him out. Take A Note completed hat-trick when switched to turf last time. Patrick Chamings’ charge also has a big chance. Centrifugal was a good winner last time, but would probably
need more back in the handicap company.
Take A Note is in winning mood, and looks to be the biggest threat to Diamond Belle. The rest of the pack is likely to see the pair just from behind.
