Diamond Cnoc thunders his way to victory in the Gala Coral Standard
Diamond Cnoc notched a comfortable victory in the Grade OR Gala Coral Standard at Romford on Friday, January 13, 2012. The cash prize for winning the event was £175.
Five greyhounds took part in the race, but the favourite one ended on top, leaving the rest of the pack well behind.
Diamond Cnoc took off from Trap number two, and gained good momentum at the start.
He carried it until the end of the race, covering the total distance in 24.62 seconds. The bettors who had put their money on the favourite hound would have been pleased with the result.
The R. Senior trained dog had a starting price of 5 to 4, and he proved his worth to the bettors, who would have earned some smart money on him.
The triumphant dog is the son of Fortune Mike out of Cnocbride, born in August 2008.
Second place was taken by Pams Tomjo, who had a starting price of 11 to 4. He had a good run overall, but ran out of gas towards the end, allowing Diamond Cnoc to win by 0.20 seconds.
Pams Tomjo entered the race from trap number six, and covered the total distance in 24.82 seconds. He had a starting price of 11 to 4 and considering that, his second place finish was a pretty decent one.
Pams Tomjo is trained by B.A. Clemenson. The son of Droopys Maldini out of Dees Dream, was born in May 2009.
Harry the Dog, trained by A.E. Gardiner, finished the race in third place, clocking an overall time of 24.90 seconds. His speed was decent, but not good enough to challenge the top two finishers.
The son of Hondo Dingle out of Handy Princess was born in August 2009, and he bowed out of the race after finishing a non-threatening third.
Slick Signature completed the race in 25 seconds, finishing fourth. His trainer K.R. Allsop would have been disappointed with the result, as his dog had a starting price of 3 to 1 and was expected to fight for the victory.
Slick Signature is the son of Droopys Maldini out of Shoot Dogg and was born in March 2009.
The hound that completed the order of finish was West Bolt.
He popped out from trap number five with a starting price of 14 to 1 and only managed to finish the race in 25.40 seconds.
The T. Kibble trained dog is the son of Hondo Black and Prasienne Way and was born in June 2008.
