Diamond D’Amour heads the lineup of  Madness Live In Concert 7th July Handicap Hurdle on 20th February
Carlisle is to host the Class 4 Madness Live In Concert 7th July Handicap Hurdle that will see nine runners taking part and racing over two miles and a furlong. The winner will be entitled to the £2, 599 purse. The lineup includes Diamond D’Amour, Sir Boreas Hawk, Knockavilla, Willie Hall, Suprise Vendor, Knight Valliant, Nowurhurlin, Open De L’Isle and Master Act.
The most capable entry for the race is Diamond D’Amour, Danehill Dancer’s six-year-old grey gelding out of mare Diamond Line. He is trained by George Bewley and has cracked through the 2012 season.
He was second in the MGM Precision Handicap Hurdle on 7th January at Newcastle. He was the 7/4 joint favourite runner up of the race. Stormy Weather, the other joint favourite, won the race by two lengths’ lead.
Diamond D’Amour has raced five times during the 2011 season during which he won once and was placed thrice. He sealed the season with a victory in the Merry Christmas From Carlisle Racecourse Novices’ Hurdle Division 1 on 18th December 2011 at Carlisle. Diamond D’Amour was the 4/9 favourite of the race on a field of eight horses.
The eight-year-old bay gelding, Willie Hall has progressed gradually with each race that came his way. On 20th October 2011 he came sixth in a race and after the course of three more starts, Willie Hall has reached the realm of being placed as he finished third in his last start.
He was third in the Timeform Race Passes Handicap Chase on 29th December at Kelso while beating the 3/1 favourite of the race, Storm Surge, into the fourth position. Primrose Time was the winner of the race.
The consistent steps that the eight-year-old has been taking since a couple of his last starts, might not guarantee a victory today but it for sure leaves the room open for the first three places.
Six-year-old chestnut gelding, Suprise Vendor fell in his last start and thus could not compete but the race prior to that went under his belt. He won the Totepool Handicap Hurdle on 29th December at Kelso. The 2/1 favourite for the race, Eurohunter, finished in the end.
Suprise Vendor is making his second start of the new season today.
