  1. If you dont have that show off attitude, than no

  2. yes and no...if you show it off a few times when you first get it that's fine. But if you keep showing it off every day or every time you see your friends then its a little wrong.

If he already got you a ring why are you still calling him your boyfriend?

Right now be being early in an engagement I find it stupid to upgrade already...remember a house and a wedding are alot of money. Wait a few years.

  3. then you would get a smaller weding ring

  4. It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks about you or your ring size... you need to focus on what REALLY matters.

First of all you need to think about if you really need or want a stone that size. I personally think once you get over 1+ they start to look too flashy and fake. I would go to a jewelry store with NO intention to buy right now and try on rings with the size stone you're thinking about. If you have delicate fingers it may just look bad, and if you stop and think about the cost of a quality ring that size you may find a lot of other place for that money to be spent.

You're planning a wedding, and I would assume thinking about buying a home, starting a family, or any of the struggles new, young couples will end up facing in the beginning of their lives together. That money could be a down payment on your first home, a nest egg for your family, much needed savings in case your baby needs special care, a safety net in case one of you is unable to work, extra money for unexpected car repairs... the list goes on and on.

Second, why does your boyfriend want to "upsize" your ring? Are you unhappy with the one he gave you? Don't get a bigger stone just because the one you have isn't big and flashy. It's not meant to impress anyone else, it is meant to be a symbol of the love between you and your man. And no, a bigger stone does not mean he loves you more! Lol! I would cherish the ring he proposed to you with, and enjoy it for what it is and what it means.

If you want to upgrade your ring I would save that for your 5 or 10 year anniversary, or do a wrap that enhances the ring you have now so you don't lose it, but rather add to it's beauty. Consider getting a wedding band with stones if you're craving more sparkle.

Congrats on your engagement, and good luck to you!

  5. Only small and jealous people.

  6. Mine is a square cut 1.05 carat diamond ring on a platinum band, I am proud to wear this but would not want it any bigger as I feel it would look too blingy.

Engagement rings are meant to mean something, why do you feel the need to have it upsized ? is it for show ?

Yes I do feel it would lose its meaning and I do feel that its a bit show offy.

  7. 1.25-1.50 is the perfect size, look here for some at a great value http://mdcdiamonds.com/Sliders/searchDia...

  8. Forgot other people.  And if they do say something it's out of jealousy

  9. if you can afford it and it looks good on you, why not!

but having it and showing it off are two different things!

  10. no one would consider you obnoxious or a show -off for up sizing your ring as long as you don't go around telling everyone how much or how big it is. don't rub it in other peoples faces.

  11. Your ring reflects a whloe lot of things. One could be that the size of yopur diamond shows how much he loves you, therefore i would be proud to show it off. forget what thre other people have to say.

  12. It's no one else's business what size your ring is. The thing that could make it annoying is if you're intentionally showing off or bragging about it. Once you're married, you'll realize-- a ring is a ring. It gets in the way when you're cleaning and cooking and taking care of kids. I don't even wear it around the house. Only when I'm going out. Having a bigger ring than someone else doesn't mean your fiance loves you any more. It just means he's willing to go into more debt for it.

If you get a bigger ring, be grateful for it. Just don't be all, "Look at my HUGE rock that my man got me! It's so much bigger than everyone else's!" Because that will get on peoples' nerves. I worked with a girl (until I quit a few months ago) who seriously loved her diamond more than the man she was marrying. It was annoying.... so annoying. For my anniversary with my husband, he bought me a new engagement ring-- an upgrade from my original 1/4 ct ring to a whole carat. I didn't show it off or anything. People noticed it and complimented him for his good taste. But this girl could not stand that I had a bigger ring than her. It was really quite pathedic. Don't be like her =)

  13. Personally, No.

I Don't Think So. Most People Can't Tell What Carat A Diamond Is Just By Looking At It, People May Just Think "Wow, That's Big" Or "That's Pretty", But They Won't Know Unless You Tell Them.

If You'd Like To Upsize, Then There Is Nothing Stopping You.

As For Showing Off, If You Got It, Flaunt It!

    =)

  14. if they do they're just jealous. thats not even that big!! my boyfriend refuses to look at anything below 2 carats and really just wants to make it 3, imagine how obnoxious i'll look if that were the case?!

be grateful that he wants to get you something beautiful and grand. and on top of that its probably one of those 'mark my territory' things, he wants other men to be able to cleary see it and think 'holy c**p! i cant compete with that!'

    BE HAPPY!!!!!

  15. neither...and congrats!

  16. neither

thats awesome ur boyfriend is really grateful!!

  17. Upsize it on your 5 year anniversary!!! It's a great gift! If he wants to do it now, then by all means, do it. But no, you're not a show-off by wearing it...you'd be a show-off by rubbing it in everyone's face. So just don't rub it in to all your friends. CONGRATS!

  18. visually: it really depends on your finger size

but in all aspects: it depends on how you wear it... if you're constantly flaunting it and are more of the materialistic type of person then it'll show but if you're down to earth in nature then it won't matter.

    all the best

  19. you should hae and wear the ring that you like the best! My husband wanted to give me a 1 ct. ring but I have dainty hands and didn't want anything bigger than a half ct. so we compromised I got a half ct. center stone with almost another half ct. in side stones (sperad out between 10 diamonds) and then my weding band is another half ct. spread out between 14 stones! he got what he wanted in size but I got a size that worked for my small hands. another option is to get a diamond ring that is off set by another stone like satphires is a good one. either way spreading your ct weight between stones rather than in a solitare will help make it look less fake and more humble!

  20. I don't care for diamonds, only as accents, but I do like big honkin' stones.......I've got two very large prasiolites (green amethyst) that weigh in at over 4 carats each, a white(silver) topaz that's also well over 4 carats.....and a citrine that is over 6 carats......

...I also have small ,delicate solitaire gemstone rings.....and a gorgeous cluster starburst cocktail ring of deep, rich garnets....

I wear what I feel like wearing when I want to wear them and I don't give a c**p what anyone thinks......

  21. (AW, I just love seeing your bunny!)

No, they won't. But stick to the original ring.

  22. You need to do what you like. You need to do it for a good reason, not just to be showy and make people jealous. Your ring should mean more to you than being a show piece.
