Hello everyone! I am going to be starting flight training soon in the Diamond Katana. What i would like is your opinions on this aircraft!

on a side note, I am 14, and of course dont have much mony, and i was wondering if you think my flight school would exchange lessons for me washing their aircraft...or do you have any other good ideas of making money (at my age) or trading for lessons? Thanks!

  1. The katana is a great airplane to learn in.

Well airports always need: Grounds keepers, line boys, airplane washers, and manual labor stuff like that.

  2. You're pretty limited at 14 for working any kinds of jobs related to the industry.  I highly doubt that they'll let you wash planes for hours.  That hasn't been done in years.  Sorry.

As for the aircraft, it's not bad.  Easy to fly.  Glides pretty far.  The only downside to it is that it's nothing like any regular piston single (e.g. Cessna, Piper) with the auto-mixture, variable pitch propeller and center control stick.

  3. cessna's are the best

  4. I think the Kantana is a good airplane to learn in.

It will prepare you for bigger more sophisticated airplanes. Watch out for the "T" tail. As far as washing airplanes; it is a lot of work!! Even to wash the Kantana, will take 8 hours, to do it right. You will also need to be supervised at first.

If you want to do it,you can. How about getting a job, saving some money, maybe a scholarship.

What ever you do , save more money for times ahead. Good luck! .....................Regards!
