Diamond ring?

How much would a 1/4 of a carat or maybe 1/2 carat diamond (solitaire please) ring cost on average? I know the clarity/cut of the diamond is important, but can you give me a price range? In most cases, do you think a man should give his lady a diamond when proposing? Or what type of stone is most often given by men/women to their Fiancee'/Finace in Jamaica??

$45,000 upwards. Dont worry yourself with what others in Jamaica are doing. Why do/be the same as everyone else(s)? Get a conversation starter, not a traditional ring or if you prefer traditional look get a gem stone instead of the diamond. Accept whatever your fiancee gives you (within reason of course)- Is it the love or the ring?

I do not think most engagement rings I see have real diamonds in. They usually cost around $37 - $300 thousand Jamaican dollars. The cheaper being a fake stone, of course.
