Diana Luna fails to record victory in 2012 season
Italian Diana Luna, who won two tournaments in the 2011 LET (Ladies European Tour) season, could not record a single title in the recently concluded 2012 season.
Luna, who is one of the most talented players on the LET, sought to grab a victory in the 2012 season. She, however, recorded seven top-10 finishes—something reflecting she put her best
foot forward in order to prove her mettle.
The last tournament of the season—Omega Dubai Ladies Masters 2012—saw her finish tied for the 34th position. Her performance was not up to the mark as she was expected to do something
amazing this time.
Luna posted an overall score of 285. She made a decent start to her campaign as she carded a 70 in the first round. The second round saw her maintain momentum because she boosted her position
a little with the help of a 71.
The Italian golfer further strengthened her position in the third round after she carded a massive 68. But she could not carry on in the same way in the last round as she posted an unimpressive
76.
Chinese Shanshan Feng amazed her fans in Dubai because she won the tournament, despite the fact she was making her debut. Feng posted a 267, beating her nearest rival Dewi Claire Schreefel
by five strokes.
Sharing her thoughts at the end of the tournament, Feng said that she was happy that she was able to win an event on the LET. She said that her rivals were strong enough, but she remained
strong till the final moment of the tournament.
“I think, luckily, nobody shot really low scores, and then I was 3‑under for the day. I think I did okay. I did handle the pressure pretty well,” Feng said.
Luna kicked off the 2012 season in style as she displayed a stellar performance at the Gold Coast Racv Australian Ladies Masters. She carded an overall score of 268
to finish tied for the second position on the leaderboard. She came close to winning, but a 71 in the first round got in her way.
Luna recorded another magical performance at the Raiffeisenbank Prague Golf Masters, posting a 208 to take the second position on the leaderboard.
