Diana Luna loses ground against Stacey Keating in France
Italian Diana Luna desperately wanted to win her first title at the Lacoste Ladies Open De France 2012, but she lost the tournament to Australian Stacey Keating by one stroke as she carded
an overall 267.
Luna found herself in a comfortable position after she took the lead in the second round, thanks to an almost-flawless 64, but Keating boosted her position in the final two rounds that saw
her shoot a massive 64 on the final day on Sunday.
From the third round, Keating started ramping up pressure on Luna, who had convinced herself that she could make her wish to win the Lacoste Ladies Open come true this time.
Luna shot a 68 each in the last two rounds, giving the Aussie golfer enough room to gain a lead over her.
The Italian golfer started the final round with an aim to hold off Keating’s efforts, but lost some good chances to score on the back nine.
She parred the first four holes, but gained some momentum after she carded four straight birdies on 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th hole in a bid to further
improve her position on the leaderboard.
On the back nine, Luna slipped into a jittery mode and her strokes were lousy enough to mar the score she made on the front nine. She registered three bogeys on the 10th, 14th
and 18th hole and a birdie on the par-5 15th.
The Ladies European Tour (LET) phenom expressed her wish to win in France as she said that she came close to winning the event in some of the editions.
“I’ve lost play-offs twice here in France and haven’t yet lifted the cup, but there are no Johnsons on the leader board today so hopefully this year is my chance! I hit 16 greens in regulation
today so I’ve been playing very good,” Luna said at the end of the second round on Friday.
On the other hand, Keating was seen celebrating her second consecutive LET victory on Sunday. She won the Tenerife Open de España Femenino 2012 in late September and had vowed to continue
her winning streak in France as well.
