Diana Luna shoots a 70 in round one
The first round of the Ladies British Masters is over and the Italian star Diana Luna is at the 17th place with a score of 70 points.
Luna played well on the back nine. The first nine was very unremarkable in comparison but her performance there paved the way for her great game on the back nine.
The first seven holes were played at par and it looked like Luna will be at the bottom of the leaderboard with other average performers.
She suddenly hit a bogey on the eighth hole that further darkened her prospects. However, she shot a birdie on the ninth hole and repaired the damage.
At this point, she was at par with 36 points on her scorecard. She started the back nine in a dramatic fashion with a bogey on the 10th hole. This was when the experts started saying that Luna might not be able to do well in the tournament.
The next two holes were on par and did nothing to lift the fans’ spirits. The 13th hole was where it happened. She shot a birdie and suddenly, everyone was interested in how Diana Luna will finish the round.
She plodded along the next three holes and came to the 17th one. Here she scored a birdie and much to everyone’s astonishment, she finished the round in style with a birdie on the final hole.
Diana Luna recovered her form rather late. The damage was done by the two bogeys and she lost her chance to finish the round near the top positions.
Still she has done well and there are signs that she will continue to perform well in the coming rounds.
This tournament is very important for the Italian player because of its prestige on the LET. She has already performed well in the Ladies Irish Open and if she does well in this event, she will greatly improve her standing on both the money list and the
LET rankings.
How Luna fares in the next rounds depends entirely on her. If she manages to avoid bogeys and worse, she has a very good chance of a top-10 finish.
