Diana Luna’s second round performance in Dubai
Diana Luna, one of the pioneers of Italian golf, has many credentials to her name. A world record holder in women’s golf, Luna is having a horrible time on the Majlis course.
The Italian golfer finished her second day at the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters at the 20th place on the leaderboard.
The results produced by Luna are not as commendable as had been expected. The Italian is capable of much more, as it was seen in the Unicredit Ladies German Open in 2011, when she carded a score of 264, 24-under par.
This feat made Luna the only golfer in the history of the game to finish four rounds of a tournament without a single bogey.
Luna started her second round on the Majlis course with a par score on the first hole. On the second hole, the Italian made a birdie.
The fifth hole was worrisome for Luna as she made a bogey, but soon recovered from the loss when she shot a birdie on the following hole.
The Italian made pars on the 7th 8th and the 9th hole, as a result carded a score of 34 halfway through the round.
On the back-nine, Luna demonstrated a highly average game of golf. The golf professional managed to score a mere 37 on the back nine with a par on every hole that followed.
The Italian had a driving average of 245 in the first, while in the second round Luna averaged 255.
The scoring average to par by the blonde haired golfer on the fairways was 79 percent in the first round and 64 percent in the second.
The Italian has the potential to rise to the challenge that is in front of her. If Luna comes up to same level of play that won her the cup in Germany, she will definitely make lives miserable for the leading golfers on the European Tour.
The Omega Dubai Ladies Master is one of the most lucrative tournaments on the Ladies European Tour. Top players of the tour are participating in the tournament to get their hands on the prestigious title.
The Chinese golfer, Shanshan Feng, enjoys a massive lead as the second day of the tournament came to a close.
The Italian will have to come up with the best round of her life to threaten the top players on the leaderboard.
