Diana Taurasi, Candice Dupree, Ebony Hoffman: Top WNBA players from 19th June games – Part 3
In the third game on Sunday night, the Phoenix Mercury defeated the Indiana Fever 93-89 at US Airways Center. Trailing by seven points at the end of third quarter, Mercury outscored Indiana 25-18 in the fourth quarter and walked
away with their first victory of this season.
The Los Angeles Sparks, on the other hand, cruised past the defending champion Seattle Storm 74-50 in overtime at Staples Center, halting their seven-game losing streak to Storm. Sparks outplayed the visiting team 14-8 in the first
quarter and limited them to just nine points in the fourth.

Diana Taurasi
Diana Taurasi led Mercury on the night. The 29-year-old guard clinched a game-high 32 points along with five rebounds and two assists in an action packed game. The player finished with a 10- for-23 shooting from the field and 9-for-12
from the free throw line. She scored 10 of her points in first half, 14 in the second half, and seven of them in overtime.
Candice Dupree
Candice Dupree added the fuel that Phoenix needed to grab their first win of the season. The mercurial forward scooped out 21 points, grabbed a game high 18 rebounds along with two assists, three steals, and three blocks.
The 26-year-old hit 9-of-15 shots from the court and also scored 3 throws.
Jessica Davenport
Jessica Davenport did the best to save Indiana from sliding down their second straight loss but even her 20 points off the bench could not add the spark that the team needed. The centre also grabbed nine rebounds, one steal and
one block in 22 plus minutes. The 25-year-old player finished on a 8 of 15 shooting from the field before she was forced out of the game with her sixth personal foul, 13 seconds before overtime.
Tamika Catchings
Tamika Catchings scored 17 points and grabbed 15 rebounds for Fever. The Indiana forward also had three assists, two steals, one block, and two three-pointers on the night.
Los Angeles Sparks vs. Seattle Storm
Ebony Hoffman
Four Sparks scored in double digits to help lift the team against the defending champions Seattle Storm. Ebony Hoffman led all her team with 12 points. The reserve forward also had four boards. She finished with a 5-for-8 shooting
from the field.
Sue Bird
Storm guard Sue Bird headed all the players with 15 points and five rebounds in the game. She also dished out three assists and made 6-of-12 shots in the defeat.
